Shed 5 regularly caters to function groups from 10 to 200. We have a beautiful private dining room facing the waterfront, the main dining room can seat up to 160 people and areas of the bar can be set aside for smaller groups.
The private dining room is the perfect space for special occasion dining or business groups and parties. Seated groups from 15-60 fit comfortably. Some of the best nights at Shed 5 are our cocktail functions, and the private dining room fits 80 to 100 people if standing room only is an option.
The private dining room is 7 metres wide and 6.8 metres long, about 47m2. There is a single, small support column in the very centre of the room that holds up the gorgeous atrium. There are many arrangement possibilities. The private dining room can fit a single table of up to 24 people, or two tables of 20 for up to 40 people, or 5-6 tables of 10 for up to 60 people. Please remember as you plan your function that we may require service tables in the room for bar or drinks service.
There is no hire charge or minimum spend for the private dining room. It is often booked months in advance so please contact us with your ideas and requirements as soon as possible.
The beautiful Shed 5 building is an iconic waterfront location, and part of it's historic beauty is the wooden interior and ceiling. However due to this the sound from the other dining rooms carries through the building, and our private dining room is not suitable for boardroom-style presentations. It has been used effectively with minimal audio equipment for marketing functions and sales pitches. Local business like to use it to entertain clients and make presentations, but audio equipment is required.
You can hire audio visual equipment through any Wellington provider, we recommend and work closely with AVS audio, www.avservices.co.nz. If you would like us to arrange audio visual equipment through AVS on your behalf we are more than happy to and can include their oncharged costs in your final invoice.
We can also arrange floral centrepieces for you through local company Daisy-a-Day www.daisyaday.co.nz and can include their oncharged costs in your final invoice.
Our main dining room has a maximum capacity of around 220 people, and is comfortable with groups over 100. If you wish to exclusively use the main dining room we prefer you to hire the entire 'Shed 5' side of the building exclusively. There is no hire charge, but a minimum spend applies and is subject to change depending on the date and requirements of your function. Please call us if you wish to discuss this.

Our function menus include your choice of 2-3 courses, with bread and tea or coffee. We always offer a choice of three dishes for each course, so that every one of your guests can find something they love.
